What was once love has slowly decayed into a faded patchwork of obligatory interactions, which they politely refer to as 'their marriage.' Helena sees the great chasms that have eroded their intimate life. She becomes increasingly curious about her sexual self, a mission that is partly inspired by some of her more racy friends, and she has a strong urge to bring back the 'romance' to her marriage. Helena makes it her mission to do a little preparatory 'homework' on the internet, with the intensions of 'spicing things up' in the bedroom. Unfortunately, the whole adventure leads to the untimely death of her husband. After a disastrous love affair with a renowned conman, Helena meets Carlos online. She is invited to stay with him in his cloud forest home in Peru. Helena hauls her sluggish libido across the miles to what she feels could be the encounter that would finally release her hidden passions, but when she arrives, she is bitterly disappointed. Her 'lover' is a small, ugly man with strange habits. Carlos seduces her into his world of prayer and meditation, inspired by herbs and roots gathered from the forest. Beneath the inspirational backdrop of Machu Picchu, Helena enters a spirit world where she is finally able to find her true self.
