The orientation and long-range ordering of SEBS films are characterized using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering (GISAXS) technique. We show that the ordering of SEBS cylindrical microdomains near the solid surface is deteriorated due to the sluggish adsorption of chains on the H-Si substrate upon thermal annealing. However, the ordering can be effectively enhanced by pre-depositing an adsorbed polystyrene (PS) or polybutadiene (PB) nanolayer on the substrate due to the inhibition of direct adsorption of SEBS chains on solid substrate. At the same time, ordering dynamics of nanoconfined SEBS is greatly enhanced when prepared on adsorbed PS or PB nanolayer, which facilitate the well-ordered standing cylinders to propagate from the bottom interface into the film surface with a distance of at least 4 times of the microdomain spacing of the cylinders (L0)."},{"label":"dcterms.available","value":"2018-03-22T22:39:08Z"},{"label":"dcterms.contributor","value":"Sokolov, Jonathan"},{"label":"dcterms.creator","value":"Hu, Zhongjie"},{"label":"dcterms.dateAccepted","value":"2018-03-22T22:39:08Z"},{"label":"dcterms.dateSubmitted","value":"2018-03-22T22:39:08Z"},{"label":"dcterms.description","value":"Department of Materials Science and Engineering."},{"label":"dcterms.extent","value":"39 pg."},{"label":"dcterms.format","value":"Application/PDF"},{"label":"dcterms.identifier","value":"http://hdl.handle.net/11401/78147"},{"label":"dcterms.issued","value":"2017-08-01"},{"label":"dcterms.language","value":"en_US"},{"label":"dcterms.provenance","value":"Made available in DSpace on 2018-03-22T22:39:08Z (GMT).
