This view, evoking worship and revile, operates more as a litmus test of the prevailing weltanschauung than as a claim of historical authenticity. In the context of imperialism, colonialism, and post-colonialism, this study seeks to examine the socio-sexual system as it defines the production of an enduring national mythic symbol.
