The characters \nappear to possess displaced souls that require some type of spiritual and moral awareness \nthrough a shocking intervention. This paper provides an analysis of the introspective \ndevelopment that occurs within the characters; and I will examine the process in which the \ncharacters seem to come to shocking revelations about their flawed view of life. \nFurthermore, an investigation of the protagonist's journey from selfishness to \nself-awareness will demonstrate the human flaws and weakness in their lives. The \ncircumstances surrounding these outcomes is tragic, yet they are somehow ironic and comic \nwhen main characters seem to get what they deserve. Therefore, an interpretation of the \nturning point and conclusion, which teaches the protagonist a lesson, will be explored. \nO'Connor's characters may undergo a moral revelation, but the reader also \ncontemplates the anagogical implications presented. The characters in Flannery \nO'Connor's short stories, 'Good Country People,' 'A Good Man is \nHard to Find,' 'The Displaced Person,' and 'Everything That Rises \nMust Converge' undergo possible spiritual and moral revelations of their displaced \nsouls through the narrative form of black comedy."},{"label":"dcterms.available","value":"2013-05-22T17:35:43Z"},{"label":"dcterms.contributor","value":"Haralson, Eric L., Huffman, Clifford"},{"label":"dcterms.creator","value":"Tomasi, Rose M."},{"label":"dcterms.dateAccepted","value":"2015-04-24T14:47:34Z"},{"label":"dcterms.dateSubmitted","value":"2015-04-24T14:47:34Z"},{"label":"dcterms.description","value":"Department of English"},{"label":"dcterms.extent","value":"43 pg."},{"label":"dcterms.format","value":"Application/PDF"},{"label":"dcterms.identifier","value":"http://hdl.handle.net/11401/71440"},{"label":"dcterms.issued","value":"2011-12-01"},{"label":"dcterms.language","value":"en_US"},{"label":"dcterms.provenance","value":"Made available in DSpace on 2013-05-22T17:35:43Z (GMT).
