Various proteins reside in the basement membrane zone and are responsible for the strength of the epidermal tissue. The cure for this disease is elusive which poses a problem for modern medicine. In this analysis, the mechanisms of epidermolysis bullosa subtypes were investigated and the viability of future treatment protocols was assessed. The promising treatment options include stem cell, gene, fibroblast, and protein therapy.
