Ocean disposal of these wastes is an attractive option for power stations with access to coastal waterways. For seven years, the Marine\nSciences Research Center (MSRC), SUNY, has made very detailed studies on the\ninteractions of a wide variety of coal combustion waste products in marine systems. A new FGD technology, Spray Drying Absorption, produces a dry end product composed of fly ash, desulfurization reaction products and excess reagent. With lime as the fixation reagent, the end products can be dampened and consolidated into self-hardening dense blocks. The project was conducted during the winter through summer 2013 academic semesters, and its focus was to convert older, archival records generated by SOMAS and maintained within the University Libraries to accessible, electronic resources in support of research and learning. All works are based on the original, analog (paper) records as released by SOMAS, except where born digital only records have been loaded to the system.
